Poshmark is an app where you can sell items from clothing, shoes, handbags, jewelry, and more. It is available to download for free on iOS and Android devices. Poshmark charges a fee when someone buys your item.
Mercari is another selling and buying app that is used by a lot of people. Mercari’s selling fee is much lower than Poshmark but I have personally sold more on Poshmark and continue to make sales there. It depends on the item. Some things sell better on Poshmark and others sell better on Mercari.
*Update Mercari now charges buyers selling fees and sellers no seller fees*
I notice higher prices for items on Poshmark than on Mercari. They’re both great selling and buying apps. If you want to continue making income selling on these apps I recommend going to thrift stores and finding good deals on items you think would sell.
Below are examples of what you can sell.
Men’s or women’s clothing
This isn’t difficult but it’s important to list size and measurements so a buyer doesn’t say details weren’t listed.
Women’s handbags
Goodwill and TJ Maxx are great places to find good deals on handbags.
Men’s or women’s shoes
I was surprised to see used shoes sell well. You can find good brand shoes at Goodwill.
Home decor
TJ Maxx, Homegoods, and Marshalls are great places to find items below retail value.
Electronics
This is a good one especially if you want to sell name brands like Apple. This one takes some searching. You can find good deals on Facebook Marketplace, Offerup, and liquidation websites. Phones, smart watches, laptops, and smart clocks do good.
